Mission Statement
The Women in Ministry Department of the Virginia Baptist State Convention, Inc. was established to develop women leaders in the church who operate out of their full gifting to build God’s Kingdom; to nurture one another; and to birth “God ideas.” Specifically, it will provide:

a safe space for healing;

networking;
-
learning and refining preaching skills;
-
learning self care strategies; and
-
sharing ministry experience and advice.
Committee Information
Publicity Committee
In order to further communication across the state, the Women in Ministry Department will develop a newsletter, The Handmaidens’ Voice. The newsletter will serve to disseminate information, focus on areas of service, and how we can best meet those needs and our own as women in ministry.
The Handmaidens’ Voice will list job and training opportunities; encourage and galvanize us; serve as a recruiting and networking tool; offer space to publish articles and sermons; and receive feedback. The Women in Ministry Department State Director will serve as editor-in-chief and committee members will take the above listed areas as their assignments to develop for publication.
Retreat Committee
The annual retreat will serve as a point of spiritual renewal for women in ministry in the
Virginia Baptist State Convention, Inc. The committee will be responsible for planning and facilitating this event.
Fundraising Committee
A goal of the Women in Ministry Department is to become financially self-sustaining. To that end, fundraising projects (from which we will tithe back to the Convention) will allow us to:
Contribute to needs around the State;
Develop scholarships for various levels of training for our constituency;
Plan and carry out regional workshops; and
Support the annual retreat
Regional Hosts
This committee will work with the State Director and Assistant State Director to coordinate workshops and events in every area of the State. The Women in Ministry Department will bring ministry and educational tools and training (once a quarter) to ultimately cover each associational region of Virginia. We will train and leave trainers to continue training in that vineyard.
